Both business and residential customers are being warned that by the year 2025, OpenReach who provide 99% telephony infrastructure in the UK will be removing the voice functionality from PSTN analogue lines as well as ISDN’s.
What does that mean to you as a customer?
It means that at the moment if you have FTTC (Fibre To The Cabinet) or ADSL which typically residential customers do as well as some smaller companies, they are going to want to change the service they provide to you.
Why?
Because copper lines can only carry so much data and if they can remove the voice signal on the line, they can use that poart to increase the internet speed that goes into your property.
Added value
Due to the way we set up VoIP and that they aren’t restricted to a specific region, you will typically find that there is a cost saving to be made on outgoing calls as well as including additional functionality to your phone system.
But what if we still make and receive calls to our landline?
Then you will have your number virtualised. You can still keep your existing telephone number, but the call will be managed by a system called a PBX (Private Branch Exchange). All of the above as some very fancy names such as VoIP (Voice over IP) or unified communications etc.
You make find that you are already using some of these services already when you are using software on your computer or mobile phone such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger.
Why the rush?
Although technology is changing and a lot of companies can hold off until nearer the 2025 deadline, you must understand that their current copper lines or ISDN circuits have been around for quite some time and may start to degrade which will affect the quality of calls.
You may also find that the support that you are paying for a physical PBX is much more expensive, depending on the current call package you have, you need to evaluate your OpEx and most importantly, with a newly designed PVX, you can include additional functionality such as music on hold, IVR, digital receptionists, voicemail management, assign working hours , reporting as well as taking calls on the go.
With unified communication, you can make or take calls from anywhere in the world that has internet available at no extra cost.
We have done our homework for you and have identified that often residential users don’t often use their landline for calls as a mobile is much more convenient. Therefore, you could be saving money by moving to a SOGEA connection which can be supplied by Col-Tech Group.
For a business of any size, we also have PBX solutions for you. We manage many of the numerous phone systems such as 3CX, TelcoSwitch, Ring Central and 8×8.
As part of the service we deliver, we can assist you to ensure that you are getting the best pricing for your connections as well as best pricing and service for your phone systems. Starting from day one we will carry out due diligence to gain an understanding of how each department works and their requirements from a phone system.
We can then put some schematics together so you can get a physical understanding of where a call arrives, its journey though the phone system/organisation right up until completion.
Depending on your requirements, we can also integrate the PBX with commonly used CRM’s as well.
